The BlackStove is a unique magazine, dedicated to delivering the darkest, most warped, and definitely the most powerful in imaginative horror fiction. Through the fiction, nonfiction, and miscellaneous material we publish, we strive to somehow change the reader...infect them with the idea that sometimes it's what we don't know that saves us from going totally and brutally mad. While The BlackStove is a very liberal publication, and certainly not one that cringes from controversial or taboo projects, we assign very specific standards to what we will and won't print. Above everything else, the story must be original. It's way too easy, particularly in today's world, to exhume old ideas and resurrect them without changing their form. We seek to publish fiction and nonfiction that is unlike anything else out there; stories which make that slim, eager smile come to the reader's face as they realize they are in the grip of a master. Likewise, the stories must be powerful, able to not only frighten the readers, (any superficial story can do that much), but also able to rent their minds and make them think long and hard about the story's message and morality. After stepping away from the fiction, the reader must somehow feel different. Additionally, our authors must make the stories strange, and hopefully nightmarishly bleak. We want stories that contain that thick and bitter tang of fear, and pulse with some queer, feverish intensity that will leave the reader plagued. We are now accepting fiction, nonfiction, criticisms, poetry, screenoplays, and letters of any length, style, or content. The BlackStove will also publish or serialize novels, although at least three (3) sample chapters, plus a sypnopsis, must be presented before hand. Because the magazine is belonged and published by the World Horror Society, payment is constantly changing and being revised. However, to be quite frank, payment isn't too large, for we consider the gift of publication and readership a much greater reward. Please send your material to: The World Horror Society -Publishing Office 5542 West Smiley Road Shelby, Ohio 44875 Or email them to: [email protected] We ask that only shorter works, (100-1,000 words), be sent via email. You can expect to recieve a reply in 2-6 weeks. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
